Raconteurs – We’re storytellers. We narrate and create compelling audiobooks. It’s as simple as that!
Words mean more than what is set down on paper; it takes the human voice to fill them with deeper meaning
Maya Angelou – poet and author.
Each of us has an extensive portfolio of audiobook narration – including many award-winning titles – but in addition, as a team, Raconteurs creates original audiobooks offering a bespoke audiobook narration and production experience for publishers, producers or working directly with authors.
Not every book that is published in print finds its way into audio – there is a huge untapped resource of wonderful writing including short stories, full-length novels, non-fiction and historical writing in the public domain – which are just waiting to be made into audiobooks. Working in partnership with Spoken Realms, we are dusting down these old manuscripts and bringing them to life and to a new audience of listeners.
Starting with the careful casting of the reader, we ensure that the voices and the books are a perfect match and our emphasis is always to remain true to the authors’ intent. We monitor the entire production process from the first preparation and research to the recording, proofing, editing and final mastering of our audiobooks – and we work with some of the best proofers, editors and audio engineers in the business. This attention to detail ensures that all of our books bring the written word to life and create memorable and compelling audiobooks.
We create both fiction and non-fiction audiobooks across all genres, to the highest possible production standards always with an attention to detail that makes our productions stand out from the crowd.
We also look to create audiobooks of new writing – and relish working directly with authors and indie publishers to create audiobooks of new and original work. If you’re an author and retain the audio rights to your original writing, we can turn your words into sound – casting from our extensive database of UK based narrators, recording, proofing, editing, mastering and publishing original new audiobooks. We have the option to record solo voice or multi-voiced reads – and create fiction and non-fiction across all genres.
We are excited to share some of our favourite books and short stories as new audiobook publications.
H. G. Wells is best remembered for his science fiction novels although he wrote across many genres. His fiction writings embrace history, science fiction, horror, satire, fantasy and social commentary; Wells was also a futurist, foreseeing air travel, tanks, space travel, nuclear weapons, and even satellite television. Amongst his writings are dozens of short stories – some are very well known, others less so.
This audiobook collection of thirteen short stories includes gothic horror, fantasy, ghost stories, science fiction, satire, and stories of domestic and social commentary.
